March 2 & 9, 2014
This classical concert was performed by the Tower Chorale in both Westchester and Chicago churches. The Ein Deutsches Requiem is one of the key works in the history of the oratorio form. Brahms assembled important passages from both the Old and New Testaments with thoughts of sorrow and consolation relating to each other. For the first time in the history of the Tower Chorale the music was sung in German, its original tongue. Our director’s home parish, St. Gregory the Great, opened its doors to us bringing our music to Chicago. Audiences of both venues responded with rave applause.
