March 11 & 12, 2023
The Tower Chorale is proud to present the annual choral masterworks concert on March 11and 12, 2023. The program will feature Anton Bruckner’s expressive and powerful Mass No. 2 in E-minor. The mass was commissioned in 1866 by the Archbishop of Linz for the dedication of the Votive Chapel of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Composed for a performance in the open air, Mass in E-minor is scored for 8-part mixed chorus, winds and brass, and showcases the polyphonic style and graceful melodic lines of Renaissance master Palestrina, by whom Bruckner was deeply influenced.
The Chorale, conducted by Music Director Patrick Godon, will be accompanied by the renowned International Chamber Artists Wind Ensemble. In addition, the Chorale will also perform two pieces by celebrated American composer Leo Nestor, and the stunning Agnus Dei/Lacrimosa, an encore performance from a previous virtual classical concert, arranged by Patrick Godon and Anastasia Cameron Balmer.
